Hope Found Her

Hope Found Her

The moment I saw her, abandoned near my store, eyes full of sorrow, I knew I had to act. I rushed home, soaked some bread and buns in milk, and hurried back to feed her. She was ravenous, and my heart just broke watching her eat.

But keeping her safe wasn’t easy. The complex owner wasn’t supportive, and the caretaker, worried for his small children, shut the gate on her. Still, she sat outside, waiting faithfully, as if hoping her owners would return.

As the days passed, my mum and our help began feeding her too. I’d come home and cry, praying to God to help me find a home for her. She deserved love, safety -something better than being left behind.

She was a well-trained Labrador, clearly once loved, but abandoned because of her age. Every time I passed by my store, I could sense her happiness just seeing me. People kept suggesting I send her to a shelter or an NGO, but I knew deep down that I had to find her a real home, not just a place to wait.

A lot of people tried to help - some offered emotional support, others made calls and tried arranging shelter options. I’m deeply grateful to such beautiful souls who stepped in with compassion.

I posted messages and requests everywhere. Time was running out, with mounting pressure from the landlord to send her away. But our prayers were answered. My mother’s friend stepped in and welcomed her with open arms. A loving home, at last.

The sense of relief and satisfaction I felt that day cannot be expressed in words. It was as if the universe had whispered back, “You did the right thing.”
